Expense management vs vehicle tracking

This is not a comparison of two alternatives. FleetPlus is not a tracking system and does not replace one — the page exists because the question keeps being asked.

Expense management vs vehicle tracking
CriterionFleetPlusVehicle tracking system
The question it answersHow much was spent on this vehicle, on what, and whereWhere the vehicle is, where it has been, how it was driven
GPS and telematicsNot provided — outside what the system doesThis is its core function
Hardware in the vehicleNone — an NFC chip or card and an app for the driverA device fitted to every vehicle, with an installation window
Spend controlSpend limits, certified providers and approvalsOut of scope — it measures consumption, it does not govern it
InvoicingOne consolidated monthly tax invoice for all spendDoes not handle service invoices
Does one replace the otherNo — it runs alongside any existing tracking systemNo — it does not cover expense data

The short answer

The two answer different questions and neither substitutes for the other. A tracking system answers: where is the vehicle, and how was it driven. FleetPlus answers: how much was spent on it, on what, at which provider, and was the service actually performed. FleetPlus provides no GPS, no telematics and no live vehicle location, and is not comparable to a tracking system. Fleets that run tracking run FleetPlus alongside it, because the data tracking lacks is the spend.
